A-Calm Tablet 50 mg contains Tolperisone Hydrochloride, a centrally acting muscle relaxant used for the relief of painful muscle spasms associated with acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. It works by reducing increased muscle tone without causing significant sedation, making it suitable for patients who require muscle relaxation while maintaining normal daily activities.

A-Calm Tablet 50 mg is indicated for the treatment of muscle spasticity and associated pain in various conditions, including:
Acute painful muscle spasms
Chronic musculoskeletal disorders
Low back pain
Cervical and lumbar spondylosis
Post-traumatic muscle spasm
Post-operative muscle stiffness
Neurological conditions associated with increased muscle tone
By relieving muscle tension, A-Calm Tablet helps improve mobility and reduces discomfort, thereby enhancing quality of life.
Centrally acting muscle relaxants
Tolperisone Hydrochloride acts primarily at the level of the central nervous system, particularly the spinal cord. It stabilizes neuronal membranes and inhibits abnormal reflex activity responsible for muscle spasticity. Unlike many other muscle relaxants, tolperisone has minimal sedative properties, allowing patients to remain alert during treatment.
The drug reduces pathological muscle tone by decreasing excessive nerve impulses to skeletal muscles. It also has mild vasodilatory properties, which may contribute to improved blood flow in affected muscles and enhanced relief from pain and stiffness.
Tolperisone inhibits voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels in nerve fibers, thereby suppressing the transmission of excitatory impulses in the spinal reflex pathways. This results in relaxation of skeletal muscles, reduction of muscle stiffness, and alleviation of pain associated with muscle spasm.
Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of symptoms and patient response:
Adults: Usually 50 mg taken two to three times daily after meals
Dose may be adjusted gradually under medical supervision
A-Calm Tablet should be swallowed whole with water and taken after food to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Tolperisone generally has a low potential for drug interactions. However, caution is advised when used with other centrally acting agents. Dose adjustment may be required when used concomitantly with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
A-Calm Tablet 50 mg is contraindicated in patients with:
Known hypersensitivity to tolperisone or any component of the formulation
Myasthenia gravis
Severe hepatic impairment
A-Calm Tablet is usually well tolerated. Some patients may experience mild to moderate side effects, including:
Dizziness
Headache
Nausea
Gastrointestinal discomfort
Muscle weakness (rare)
Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash or itching
Most side effects are transient and resolve with continued use or dose adjustment.
