Cardicil Tablet 10 mg contains Cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB) used primarily in the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). Cilnidipine is a unique dihydropyridine calcium antagonist that blocks both L-type and N-type calcium channels, providing effective vasodilation and additional sympathetic nerve activity modulation. This dual mechanism helps reduce peripheral vascular resistance, lower blood pressure, and provide protective effects for the heart and kidneys.
Cardicil is suitable for adults with essential hypertension and can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to achieve optimal blood pressure control. Its once-daily dosing and favorable side effect profile make it a convenient and well-tolerated treatment option.

Calcium Channel Blocker (Dihydropyridine)
Antihypertensive Agent
Cardicil Tablet 10 mg is indicated for:
Management of essential hypertension in adults
Reduction of cardiovascular risk associated with high blood pressure
Adjunct therapy in hypertensive patients requiring additional blood pressure control
Patients at risk of hypertensive nephropathy due to its renal protective effects
Cilnidipine exerts its antihypertensive effects by blocking L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, causing relaxation of arterial walls and a reduction in systemic vascular resistance.
In addition, Cilnidipine inhibits N-type calcium channels in sympathetic nerve endings, leading to reduced norepinephrine release and decreased sympathetic tone. This dual action:
Lowers blood pressure effectively
Minimizes reflex tachycardia, a common side effect of other CCBs
Provides additional renal and cardiovascular protection
Cilnidipine’s selective action on vascular smooth muscle over cardiac muscle ensures that it lowers blood pressure without significantly affecting heart rate or cardiac contractility.
Adults: The usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily, taken orally with or without food.
Depending on response, the dose may be increased to 20 mg once daily after 2–4 weeks.
Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended to ensure therapeutic effectiveness.
Known hypersensitivity to Cilnidipine or other dihydropyridine derivatives
Severe hypotension or cardiogenic shock
Heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (unless approved by a physician)
Cardicil is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include:
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Flushing
Headache
Peripheral edema (swelling of ankles or feet)
Mild fatigue
Rarely, gastrointestinal disturbances, palpitations, or skin rashes may occur. Most side effects are mild and resolve with continued therapy.
Use during pregnancy should be based on careful risk-benefit assessment by a physician.
Safety during lactation is not fully established; consult a healthcare professional before use.
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly
Use cautiously in patients with impaired liver or kidney function
Avoid sudden discontinuation to prevent rebound hypertension
Inform the physician of all concomitant medications to avoid drug interactions
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C
Protect from light and moisture
Keep out of reach of children.
