Co-dopa Plus Tablet 100 mg+25 mg+200 mg is a fixed-dose combination therapy containing Levodopa 100 mg, Carbidopa 25 mg, and Entacapone 200 mg. It is specially formulated for the management of Parkinson’s disease in patients experiencing motor fluctuations despite treatment with levodopa and carbidopa alone. This triple-combination therapy enhances and prolongs the effect of levodopa, providing improved symptom control and better quality of life.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder caused by a deficiency of dopamine in the brain. This deficiency leads to symptoms such as tremors, muscle stiffness, slowness of movement (bradykinesia), and impaired balance. Levodopa is converted into dopamine in the brain, helping to restore motor function. Carbidopa prevents the premature breakdown of levodopa in the peripheral tissues, allowing more levodopa to reach the brain and reducing side effects like nausea and vomiting.
Entacapone is a catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor. It works by blocking the COMT enzyme responsible for breaking down levodopa in the body. By inhibiting this enzyme, entacapone prolongs the action of levodopa, reduces “wearing-off” symptoms, and helps maintain more consistent dopamine levels throughout the day.

Co-dopa Plus Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of Parkinson’s disease
Management of end-of-dose motor fluctuations
Patients inadequately controlled with levodopa/carbidopa therapy alone
Enhances and prolongs the therapeutic effect of levodopa
Reduces “off” periods and motor fluctuations
Improves control of tremors, rigidity, and bradykinesia
Decreases frequency of dosing adjustments
Provides comprehensive dopamine replacement therapy in a single tablet
The dosage should be individualized according to the patient’s clinical condition and physician’s recommendation. The tablet should be taken orally with or without food, swallowed whole with water. Dose titration may be required based on symptom control and tolerability.
Patients switching from levodopa/carbidopa therapy may require careful adjustment of dosage under medical supervision. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent complications.
Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease, liver impairment, or psychiatric disorders.
May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or sudden sleep episodes; patients should avoid driving if affected.
Monitor for involuntary movements (dyskinesia), which may require dose adjustment.
Regular medical follow-up is essential during long-term therapy.
Common side effects may include:
Dyskinesia
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea
Dry mouth
Dizziness or orthostatic hypotension
Urine discoloration (harmless reddish-brown color due to entacapone)
