Frenia Oral Solution 1 mg/ml contains Risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic agent used for the management of a variety of psychiatric disorders. This oral solution formulation allows precise dosing and is particularly useful for patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets or require flexible dose adjustments. Frenia Oral Solution helps control positive symptoms (such as hallucinations, delusions, agitation, hostility) and negative symptoms (such as emotional withdrawal, social isolation, and blunted affect) associated with schizophrenia. It is also effective in managing mania in bipolar disorder and behavioral disturbances in other psychiatric conditions.

Bipolar Disorder: Treatment of mania and mixed episodes
Behavioral disturbances: In patients with irritability or aggression associated with autism spectrum disorder or other psychiatric conditions
Maintenance therapy in patients who have responded to initial treatment
Atypical Neuroleptic / Second-Generation Antipsychotic
Risperidone is a selective monoaminergic antagonist with high affinity for dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. It also has moderate activity at alpha1-adrenergic and H1 histamine receptors, while having minimal anticholinergic effects. This balanced receptor activity helps alleviate positive symptoms of schizophrenia while also improving negative and affective symptoms, and it generally carries a lower risk of extrapyramidal side effects compared to typical antipsychotics. Risperidone modulates dopamine and serotonin pathways in the brain, stabilizing mood and behavior.
Schizophrenia:
Initial: 1 mg twice daily
Gradual increase by 1 mg increments, as tolerated
Usual maintenance: 4–6 mg daily; maximum: 16 mg/day
Mania in Bipolar Disorder:

Adjust according to response and tolerability
Maximum dose: 6–8 mg/day
Elderly or patients with hepatic/renal impairment:
Start with lower doses (0.5–1 mg daily) and titrate slowly
Children:
Dosing depends on age and weight; should be supervised by a pediatric psychiatrist
