Active Ingredient: Sucralfate 1 gm per 5 ml suspension
Anti-ulcerant
Gastrointestinal mucosal protective agent

Sucralfate acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract. In an acidic environment, it forms a viscous, adhesive substance that binds selectively to ulcerated or inflamed mucosal surfaces. This protective barrier shields the affected area from gastric acid, pepsin, and bile salts, allowing natural healing to occur. Additionally, sucralfate stimulates local prostaglandin production and bicarbonate secretion, further enhancing mucosal defense.
The usual adult dose is 10 ml (2 teaspoons) four times daily, taken on an empty stomach, or as directed by a physician.
For optimal effect, Gastalfet Suspension should be taken one hour before meals and at bedtime.
