Glifo-M XR Tablet 10 mg+1000 mg is a combination oral antidiabetic medicine formulated with Empagliflozin and Metformin Hydrochloride in an extended-release (XR) form. It is prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when blood glucose levels are not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, or monotherapy.
This dual-action formula combines two well-established antidiabetic agents that work through complementary mechanisms to provide effective and sustained glycemic control throughout the day.

Each extended-release tablet contains:
Empagliflozin 10 mg
Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg (Extended Release)
Empagliflozin belongs to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It works by reducing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, allowing excess glucose to be excreted through urine. This helps lower blood sugar levels independently of insulin action.
Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide that primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. It also decreases intestinal glucose absorption and enhances peripheral glucose uptake.
The extended-release formulation of Metformin ensures gradual drug release, minimizing gastrointestinal discomfort and maintaining stable blood glucose levels.
Glifo-M XR Tablet is indicated for:
Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
Improvement of glycemic control alongside diet and exercise
Patients requiring combination therapy for better blood sugar regulation
Individuals at risk of cardiovascular complications associated with type 2 diabetes (as advised by a physician)
Provides dual mechanism glucose control

Extended-release formulation improves gastrointestinal tolerability
May support weight management due to urinary glucose excretion
Convenient once-daily dosing in many cases
The dosage should be determined by a registered healthcare professional based on the patient’s medical condition and response to therapy. It is generally taken once daily with meals to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.
