Ipadox 100 mg is a semisynthetic tetracycline antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It is primarily bacteriostatic, meaning it inhibits the growth and replication of bacteria rather than directly killing them. Ipadox is effective against a wide variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, sexually transmitted, and other systemic infections. It is particularly active against Staphylococcus aureus, Nocardia, Chlamydia, and penicillin-resistant strains of certain bacteria.

Gastrointestinal Tract Infections:
Cholera, traveler's diarrhea, shigellosis, acute intestinal amebiasis
Chlamydial and Sexually Transmitted Infections:
Lymphogranuloma venereum, psittacosis, trachoma

Other Infections:
Impetigo, furunculosis, inclusion conjunctivitis, brucellosis, tularemia, cellulitis, acne, and Q-fever
Ipadox 100 mg interferes with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits, producing defective bacterial cell membranes. It is active against a wide range of Gram-positive, Gram-negative, anaerobic bacteria, and certain spirochetes. Notably, it is effective against strains resistant to other tetracyclines and penicillin.
Adults:
Standard infections: 200 mg on first day, then 100 mg daily for 7–10 days
Severe infections: 200 mg daily for 10 days
Acne: 100 mg daily
Uncomplicated genital chlamydia or non-gonococcal urethritis: 100 mg twice daily for 7–21 days
Pelvic inflammatory disease: 100 mg twice daily for 14–21 days
Administration:
Capsules should be swallowed whole with plenty of fluid during meals, preferably while sitting or standing.
Children:
Contraindicated under 8 years due to risk of permanent teeth discoloration
Absorption impaired by antacids, iron, calcium, magnesium, or bismuth-containing preparations
Barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin reduce half-life of doxycycline
Concomitant tetracyclines may reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives
