Mechanism of Action

Itraconazole works by inhibiting the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is a key component of fungal cell membranes. By blocking its production, Itraconazole disrupts cell membrane integrity, leading to inhibition of fungal growth and eventual cell death.

Indications
