Lotepro Plus Suspension 0.5%+0.3% is a combination ophthalmic preparation containing Loteprednol Etabonate, a corticosteroid, and Tobramycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. This dual-action formulation is designed to treat inflammatory eye conditions associated with bacterial infections or at risk of secondary infection. The combination helps reduce inflammation while simultaneously preventing or treating bacterial growth in ocular tissues.

Each milliliter of suspension contains:
Loteprednol Etabonate 0.5%
Tobramycin 0.3%
Lotepro Plus Suspension 0.5%+0.3% is indicated for the treatment of:
Steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eye accompanied by bacterial infection or risk of infection.
Conjunctivitis, keratitis, and other anterior segment inflammations with bacterial involvement.
Post-operative inflammation and infection prophylaxis following ocular surgery.
Conditions such as allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea, superficial punctate keratitis, and iritis when bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed.
This combination is particularly beneficial in patients who require simultaneous anti-inflammatory and antibacterial therapy for optimal ocular recovery.
Ophthalmic steroid and antibiotic combination
Loteprednol Etabonate: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by inhibiting phospholipase A2 activity through lipocortins, suppressing the release of arachidonic acid and the synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It decreases edema, leukocyte migration, fibroblast proliferation, collagen deposition, and scar formation.
Tobramycin: An aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, effectively killing susceptible Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria.
Together, the combination provides rapid relief from inflammation while controlling or preventing bacterial infection.
Shake the suspension well before use.
Instill 1–2 drops into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours, or as directed by an ophthalmologist.
In post-operative cases, therapy may start 24 hours after surgery and continue for the recommended duration.
The dose should be adjusted based on clinical response, and treatment should not be discontinued abruptly without medical advice.
Systemic drug interactions are unlikely because topical ocular absorption of Loteprednol and Tobramycin is minimal. However, caution is advised if the patient is concurrently using other ophthalmic medications.
