Mucomist Respirator Solution 600 mg/3 ml contains Acetylcysteine, a well-established mucolytic agent used in the management of respiratory conditions associated with excessive or thick mucus secretion. It is specially formulated for inhalation via nebulizer, allowing direct action on the respiratory tract to loosen and clear mucus from the airways.
Mucomist Respirator Solution is commonly used as an adjunct therapy in both acute and chronic respiratory disorders, helping to improve airflow, ease breathing, and enhance the effectiveness of other respiratory treatments.

Mucomist Respirator Solution is indicated for:
Respiratory tract disorders associated with thick, viscous mucus
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Chronic bronchitis
Bronchial asthma with mucus plugging
Pneumonia and other lower respiratory tract infections
Atelectasis due to mucus obstruction
As a supportive therapy in patients with tracheostomy or those undergoing bronchial procedures
Mucolytic agent
Respiratory system drugs
Acetylcysteine acts by breaking disulfide bonds in mucoproteins present in respiratory secretions. This biochemical action reduces the viscosity and elasticity of mucus, making it thinner and easier to expel through coughing or suction.
In addition to its mucolytic properties, Acetylcysteine has antioxidant activity. It serves as a precursor to glutathione, an important intracellular antioxidant, helping protect lung tissue from oxidative stress and inflammation. These combined actions improve airway clearance and support respiratory function.
Recommended dose: 600 mg (3 ml) administered by inhalation using a nebulizer, as prescribed by a physician
The solution should be used under medical supervision, especially in patients with asthma
Frequency and duration of therapy depend on the severity of the condition and clinical response
The solution should not be mixed with other medications unless advised by a healthcare professional.
Acetylcysteine is generally well tolerated and has minimal clinically significant drug interactions when used as an inhalation therapy. However:
Concomitant use with bronchodilators may enhance mucus clearance
Antibiotics should not be mixed directly with Acetylcysteine in the nebulizer chamber
Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all medications they are using.

Mucomist Respirator Solution is contraindicated in:
Patients with known hypersensitivity to Acetylcysteine or any component of the formulation
Common side effects may include:
Cough
Mild bronchospasm
Nausea
Unpleasant odor or taste during inhalation
Less common:
Chest tightness
Rhinorrhea
Irritation of the throat
If bronchospasm or severe respiratory discomfort occurs, treatment should be discontinued and medical advice sought immediately.
There is limited data on the use of inhaled Acetylcysteine during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Mucomist Respirator Solution should be used only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician, after evaluating potential benefits and risks.
Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma due to the risk of bronchospasm
Adequate airway clearance techniques should be ensured during therapy
Not intended for injection or oral use
