Neocard Tablet 60 mg is a cardiovascular medicine containing Diltiazem Hydrochloride, a well-established calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of various heart and blood pressure–related conditions. It works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow, which helps reduce strain on the heart and enhances oxygen supply to the cardiac muscle. Neocard 60 mg is particularly beneficial for patients requiring effective control of angina, hypertension, and certain cardiac rhythm disorders.
Diltiazem belongs to the benzothiazepine class of calcium channel blockers and provides a balanced effect on both the heart and vascular smooth muscle. This dual action makes Neocard a reliable option for long-term cardiovascular management under medical supervision.

Neocard Tablet 60 mg is indicated for the management of:
Chronic stable angina pectoris
Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Supraventricular arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter for ventricular rate control
It may be used alone or in combination with other cardiovascular medications as prescribed by a physician.
Calcium Channel Blocker
Antianginal Agent
Antihypertensive
Diltiazem Hydrochloride inhibits the influx of calcium ions through slow calcium channels in myocardial and vascular smooth muscle cells. Since calcium is essential for muscle contraction, its inhibition leads to relaxation of coronary and peripheral blood vessels, reduced heart rate, and decreased myocardial contractility.
These effects lower myocardial oxygen demand while improving coronary blood flow, making Neocard effective in preventing angina attacks. Additionally, its action on the atrioventricular node helps slow conduction and control heart rate in supraventricular arrhythmias. Diltiazem is well absorbed after oral administration and undergoes extensive metabolism in the liver, with its therapeutic effects achieved through both parent drug and active metabolites.

The dosage of Neocard Tablet 60 mg should be tailored according to the patient’s clinical condition and response.
Adults:
Commonly prescribed as 60 mg taken 2–3 times daily, depending on the indication and physician recommendation
The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and may be taken with or without food. Dose adjustments should be made gradually and only under medical supervision.
Neocard Tablet 60 mg is contraindicated in patients with:
Severe hypotension
Acute myocardial infarction with pulmonary congestion
Second- or third-degree AV block without a pacemaker
Sick sinus syndrome (unless a functioning pacemaker is present)
Known hypersensitivity to diltiazem or any excipient
Neocard is generally well tolerated. Some patients may experience:
Headache
Dizziness
Bradycardia
Peripheral edema
Flushing
Gastrointestinal discomfort or constipation
Most adverse effects are mild and resolve with continued use or dosage adjustment.
Diltiazem may enhance the effects of beta-blockers, digoxin, and other antihypertensive agents. Caution is advised when used with drugs metabolized by hepatic enzymes, as interactions may require dose modification.
The safety of Neocard Tablet 60 mg during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should be used only when clearly needed. Diltiazem is excreted in breast milk; therefore, caution is advised when administered to nursing mothers.
