Mechanism of Action

Clopidogrel works by selectively and irreversibly inhibiting the P2Y12 adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptor on platelet surfaces. This inhibition prevents ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex, which is essential for platelet aggregation.
