Recormon Injection 5000 IU/0.3 ml contains Erythropoietin Beta, a recombinant human erythropoietin used to treat anemia associated with chronic diseases and certain medical treatments. It works by stimulating the bone marrow to produce red blood cells, thereby increasing hemoglobin levels and improving oxygen delivery to tissues. This medication is especially beneficial for patients whose bodies are unable to produce adequate natural erythropoietin.

Recormon 5000 IU is primarily indicated for:
Anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in both dialysis and non-dialysis patients
Anemia in patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
Anemia in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy
Reduction of blood transfusion requirements in certain surgical patients
Anemia of prematurity (as prescribed)
It helps reduce the need for repeated blood transfusions and improves overall quality of life in anemic patients.
Erythropoietin Beta is a synthetic form of the natural hormone erythropoietin, which is normally produced by the kidneys. In patients with kidney disease or certain chronic illnesses, erythropoietin production is reduced, leading to anemia.
Recormon works by:
Stimulating erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow
Increasing production of red blood cells
Raising hemoglobin and hematocrit levels
This results in improved oxygen transport throughout the body, reducing symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
Administered by subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV) injection
Dosage is individualized based on body weight, hemoglobin level, and clinical condition
Hemoglobin levels should be monitored regularly (usually every 1–2 weeks initially)
Dose adjustments are made according to patient response
Iron status should be assessed before and during treatment, as adequate iron levels are necessary for optimal response.
Effectively increases hemoglobin levels
Reduces dependence on blood transfusions
Improves energy and physical performance
Enhances quality of life in CKD and chemotherapy patients
Provides controlled correction of anemia under medical supervision
Common side effects may include:
Increased blood pressure (hypertension)
Headache
Flu-like symptoms
Joint or muscle pain
Injection site reactions
Serious but less common adverse effects include:
Thromboembolic events (blood clots)
Seizures
Pure red cell aplasia (rare immune-mediated condition)
Immediate medical attention is required if symptoms such as chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, or limb swelling occur.

Blood pressure must be well controlled before starting treatment.
Hemoglobin should not rise too rapidly to avoid cardiovascular complications.
Use cautiously in patients with a history of stroke or heart disease.
Regular monitoring of hemoglobin and iron levels is essential.
Not recommended in patients with uncontrolled hypertension.
Uncontrolled hypertension
Hypersensitivity to erythropoietin beta or any component of the formulation
History of pure red cell aplasia following erythropoietin therapy
