Respira 2 mg Tablet is a selective short-acting β2-adrenoceptor agonist designed for the treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in adults, adolescents, and children aged 6 years and older. It is particularly effective in managing reversible obstructive airway diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). By relaxing bronchial smooth muscles, Respira 2 mg provides rapid relief from wheezing, breathlessness, and other symptoms of airway constriction.

Respira 2 mg is indicated for:
Treatment of acute bronchospasm in asthma and other reversible obstructive airway diseases.
Prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm or symptom flare-ups.
Suitable for adults, adolescents, and children aged 6 years and older.
Short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor agonist (SABA)
Respira 2 mg is a single-isomer beta-2 agonist, eliminating the (S)-salbutamol component present in racemic salbutamol. This selective action provides clinically effective bronchodilation without the inhibitory effects of (S)-salbutamol. The drug works by stimulating beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of airway muscles, reduced airway resistance, and improved airflow. Its rapid onset of action makes it suitable for both acute relief and prophylactic use.
Children (6–11 years):
5 ml (1 mg) three times daily
Adolescents and Adults (12 years and above):
5–10 ml (1–2 mg) three times daily
Administration Guidelines:
Take with water, preferably at regular intervals as prescribed.
Adherence to prescribed dosing is important to maintain effective bronchodilation.
Use with caution when administering other adrenergic or sympathomimetic medications to avoid cardiovascular complications.
Concurrent use with other short-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilators or epinephrine may increase cardiovascular side effects.
Additional adrenergic drugs should be administered with caution to avoid tachycardia, arrhythmia, or excessive blood pressure elevation.
Serum potassium monitoring is advised if Respira is used with xanthine derivatives, steroids, or diuretics.
Hypersensitivity to Respira 2 mg or any of its components.
Use is not recommended in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity reactions to β2 agonists.
Common and potential side effects include:
Cardiovascular: Palpitations, tachycardia
Musculoskeletal: Fine tremors, muscle cramps
Metabolic: Hypocalcemia
Gastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, diarrhea
Most side effects are mild and transient.
Caution in acute severe asthma, as hypoxia or concomitant medications may potentiate effects.
Monitor serum potassium levels in patients receiving Respira with xanthine derivatives, steroids, or diuretics.
Use during pregnancy only if benefits outweigh potential fetal risk.
Use in lactating women with caution; it is unknown whether Respira is excreted in human milk.
Store in a dry, cool place away from light and heat.
Keep out of reach of children.
Respira 2 mg selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscles, leading to relaxation of airway fibers and bronchodilation. Its single-isomer formulation ensures rapid, effective relief from bronchospasm while minimizing adverse effects associated with non-selective beta agonists. This makes it suitable for both acute treatment and preventive management of reversible obstructive airway conditions.
