Composition

Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains:

• Cephradine 125 mg

Indications

Roxicef Suspension is indicated for the treatment of:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis)
• Otitis media (middle ear infection)
• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Mild to moderate bacterial infections in pediatric patients
• Post-operative infection prevention (as prescribed by physician)

Mechanism of Action

Cephradine works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins inside the bacterial cell wall, preventing the formation of a stable cell wall structure. This leads to weakening of the bacterial cell wall and ultimately causes bacterial death. As a result, the infection is controlled and symptoms gradually improve.

Dosage & Administration

• The dosage should be strictly determined by a physician based on the child’s age, weight, and severity of infection.
• It is usually given in divided doses throughout the day.
• Shake well before each use to ensure proper mixing of the suspension.
• The full prescribed course must be completed even if symptoms improve early.
• Can be taken with or without food, preferably after meals to reduce stomach upset.

Precautions

• Not recommended for patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins
