Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg is a short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulant used as a fast-acting bronchodilator for the management of reversible airway obstruction. It is effective in relieving bronchospasm associated with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and other obstructive airway diseases. Due to its rapid onset of action, Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg is suitable for both acute symptom relief and preventive use, including exercise-induced bronchospasm.

Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg is indicated for use as a bronchodilator in:
Bronchial asthma
Chronic bronchitis
Emphysema
Other conditions associated with reversible airway obstruction
Exercise-induced asthma
Short-acting selective β2-adrenoceptor stimulants
Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg contains a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist. At therapeutic doses, it predominantly stimulates β2-adrenoceptors in bronchial smooth muscle, producing effective bronchodilation with minimal action on β1-adrenoceptors of the heart. The onset of bronchodilation occurs within 5 minutes and lasts for approximately 4–6 hours.
Additionally, it exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting mast cell mediator release, including histamine, neutrophil chemotactic factor, and prostaglandin D2, which contribute to bronchoconstriction.
Oral (Tablet/Syrup):
Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml syrup, 3–4 times daily
Children 6–12 years: 5 ml syrup, 3–4 times daily
Over 12 years: 5–10 ml syrup or 2–4 mg tablet, 3–4 times daily
Adults: 2–4 mg tablet, 3–4 times daily
Maximum single dose: 8 mg
Inhalation Capsule (Bexicap):
Adults: 1–2 capsules (200 mcg each) every 4–6 hours as required
Children (≥4 years): 1 capsule 3–4 times daily; may increase to 2 capsules if necessary
Exercise-induced asthma:
Adults: 400 mcg
Children: 200 mcg, 15–30 minutes before exercise
Nebulizer Solution:
Adults & elderly: 2.5–5 mg up to 4 times daily
Children under 12 years: 2.5 mg up to 4 times daily
Injection:
Administered via subcutaneous, intramuscular, slow intravenous injection, or continuous IV infusion under medical supervision. Dosage varies by route and clinical condition.
Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components.
Possible side effects include:
Fine skeletal muscle tremor
Palpitations
Muscle cramps
Tachycardia
Headache
Nervousness and peripheral vasodilatation, especially at higher doses
Pregnancy: Use only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Lactation: It is not known whether the drug is excreted in human milk. A decision should be made to discontinue either breastfeeding or the drug, considering maternal benefit.
Use with caution in patients with:
Cardiovascular disease
Hypertension
Hyperthyroidism
Diabetes mellitus
Occlusive vascular disorders
Hypokalaemia
Prolonged high-dose use may lead to tachyphylaxis and reduced therapeutic response.
Symptoms of overdose include headache, nausea, vomiting, tremor, angina, and tachycardia. A cardio-selective beta-blocker may be used as an antidote with caution, especially in patients prone to bronchospasm.
Store below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Azmasol Bexicap 200 mcg stimulates β2-adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of airway muscles and improved airflow. This results in rapid relief from bronchospasm and improved pulmonary function.
