Intasone Tablet 10 mg contains Hydrocortisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid that mimics the action of the natural hormone cortisol produced by the adrenal glands. It is used in conditions where the body is unable to produce adequate corticosteroids or where suppression of inflammation and immune response is required. Intasone Tablet 10 mg plays an essential role in the management of endocrine disorders, inflammatory diseases, allergic conditions, and autoimmune disorders.
Hydrocortisone is considered a short-acting corticosteroid with both glucocorticoid and mild mineralocorticoid activity, making it particularly useful in replacement therapy for adrenal insufficiency as well as in a wide range of systemic conditions.

Each tablet contains:
Hydrocortisone 10 mg
Intasone Tablet 10 mg is indicated for the treatment and management of the following conditions:
Primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency (Addison’s disease)
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
Severe allergic conditions, including drug reactions and allergic rhinitis
Inflammatory and autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus
Certain dermatological diseases responsive to systemic corticosteroid therapy
Gastrointestinal disorders including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
Respiratory conditions such as bronchial asthma
Hematological disorders like autoimmune hemolytic anemia
Adjunct therapy in certain malignancies
Hydrocortisone acts by binding to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, resulting in regulation of gene transcription involved in inflammatory and immune responses. It inhibits the formation of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and cytokines, thereby reducing inflammation, swelling, and allergic reactions.
Hydrocortisone also influences carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism, helps maintain vascular tone and blood pressure, and supports the body’s physiological response to stress. When administered orally, Intasone Tablet 10 mg provides systemic effects essential for both replacement and anti-inflammatory therapy.
Dosage should be individualized according to the disease being treated and patient response.
Adults:
Replacement therapy: Usually 15–30 mg daily in divided doses
Anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive therapy: Dosage varies depending on severity and clinical condition
Children:
Dose is adjusted according to body weight and clinical indication and should be determined by a physician
Tablets should be taken with food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Long-term therapy requires gradual dose reduction to avoid adrenal suppression.
Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone or any component of the formulation
Systemic fungal infections unless appropriate antifungal treatment is given
Enzyme inducers such as rifampicin and phenytoin may reduce hydrocortisone effectiveness
Increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration when used with NSAIDs
May alter blood glucose control in patients receiving antidiabetic medications
Increased risk of hypokalemia with certain diuretics
Possible side effects, especially with prolonged use, include:
Fluid retention and electrolyte imbalance
Increased blood pressure
Hyperglycemia
Weight gain and mood changes
Increased susceptibility to infections
Intasone Tablet 10 mg should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only when clearly indicated and under medical supervision, weighing potential benefits against possible risks.
