Indications

Rostil Plus is indicated for:

1. Relief of constipation: Ispaghula husk promotes bowel movement by increasing stool bulk and softening feces.

2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): Reduces abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular bowel habits.

3. Spasmodic gastrointestinal disorders: Mebeverine hydrochloride relieves intestinal cramping and smooth muscle spasms.

4. Functional bowel disorders: Effective in conditions where bowel motility and stool passage are irregular.

Pharmacology

Ispaghula Husk:

• A natural fiber derived from the seeds of Plantago ovata.

• Absorbs water in the gut to form a viscous gel, increasing fecal bulk and promoting peristalsis.

• Softens stools, easing passage and preventing constipation without causing irritation or dependence.

Mebeverine Hydrochloride:

• A direct-acting antispasmodic on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract.

• Relieves intestinal cramping, bloating, and discomfort associated with IBS.

• Works without significantly affecting normal gut motility or gastric secretions.

Combined Effect: Rostil Plus provides both stool softening and symptomatic relief from abdominal cramps, targeting both the cause and discomfort of bowel irregularities.

Dosage & Administration

• Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of 120-150 ml of water and drink immediately.

• Can be taken once or twice daily, preferably before meals.

• Drink plenty of water throughout the day to enhance the effect of Ispaghula Husk.

• Avoid taking other medications at the same time as the effervescent granules, as fiber may reduce absorption of certain drugs.

Interactions

• No major drug interactions are reported.

• Precaution: Ispaghula husk may interfere with the absorption of oral medications (e.g., digoxin, warfarin). Take other medications at least 1–2 hours before or after Rostil Plus.

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to Ispaghula Husk, Mebeverine, or any excipients.

• Intestinal obstruction or severe gastrointestinal narrowing.

• Acute abdominal conditions such as undiagnosed pain, inflammatory bowel disease flare-ups, or severe diarrhea.

• Children under 6 years (safety not established).

Side Effects

• Ispaghula Husk: May cause mild bloating, flatulence, or abdominal fullness initially.

• Mebeverine Hydrochloride: Rarely, headache, dizziness, nausea, or allergic reactions.
